Frequently asked questions

How many people fit in the sauna?

A maximum of 6 people may use the sauna at the same time.

Isn't CHF 50 sauna rental per hour a bit much?

You book the whole sauna exclusively for you and your friends, whether you come alone, as a pair or with up to six. The price covers everyone together: with four of you, 1 hour costs CHF 12.50 per person. That is cheaper than any admission to a public sauna we know of. You have the sauna to yourselves, with no other guests, right by the lake.

Can I use the sauna on my own?

Yes, that is possible. However, you should be experienced and attentive, as sauna bathing deliberately puts strain on your circulation.

Will the sauna be warm when I arrive?

Yes. The stove switches on automatically one hour before your time slot and heats the sauna to 80 °C (176 °F). That is why short-notice time slots, where there is not enough time left to heat up, cannot be booked. If your time slot directly follows another booking, the sauna is already warm.

Can I set the stove temperature myself?

That is not necessary: the heater runs automatically at a comfortable 80 °C. That way the sauna is ready when you arrive, and the next group finds it just as you did. Fresh air supply and ventilation are taken care of. If it is too hot for you, simply sit on the lower bench, do not pour water on the stones and stay in the sauna for a shorter time.

What facilities are available?

In the sauna wagon: changing room and sauna. Outside: shower, loungers, a rest tent and a Kompotoi (compost toilet). The facilities of the Buebebadi cannot be used in winter because they are not frost-proof.

Is there a rest room?

Yes. A tent serves as a rest room. Between sauna rounds you can relax there, sheltered from the weather.

Is the sauna textile-free?

Yes. In the sauna itself you go without swimwear, as is customary and best for hygiene and the sauna climate. Please always sit or lie on your own towel. In the outdoor area, that is between the changing room, sauna, shower and rest tent, wear swimwear or a bathrobe.

What should I bring?

Our recommendation: a bathrobe, 2 bath towels, swimwear for the outdoor area and flip-flops. In winter, also bring a hat and warm clothes.

Where is the key box for the sauna wagon?

Right next to the entrance door of the sauna wagon.

Can I stay longer than booked?

No, unless the sauna is free and you make a new booking before your time slot begins. Please stick to your time slot.

Can I cancel or change my booking?

Cancellation with a refund is not possible. However, up to 48 hours before the start you can move your booking once, free of charge, to another free time slot of the same length. You need the booking number from your text message or email, plus your email address. You are also welcome to pass the access code on to someone else. Details can be found in the terms and conditions.

How do vouchers work?

Vouchers are available for 1 or 2 hours. You can buy them online and receive the codes by email right away. When booking, enter the code in the field «Voucher code» and no payment is required. The booked duration must match the voucher. Each voucher is valid for one year and can be redeemed only once (for winter or summer operation).

Is there food and drink?

Yes. There is a small fridge with snacks and drinks in the changing room. Please help yourself and pay with Twint to the Buebebadi Eschenz (details are posted there). Hungry for a proper dinner? More information and reservations (recommended) at Buebebadi Eschenz.

What do I do after the sauna?

Close the sauna door (otherwise the stove stops working). Quickly clean all floors with the Swiffer, put rubbish in the bin, switch off the lights in the sauna and the changing room, lock the sauna wagon and put the key back in the key box (it locks by itself). The stove and the outdoor lighting switch off automatically.

How safe is the sauna?

We built the sauna so that you can enjoy it with peace of mind:

  • Fire protection: The stove is surrounded by fire-resistant material. A smoke alarm and a fire extinguisher are on site.
  • Escape route: The doors are in a row and lead straight to the outside.
  • Fresh air: Oxygen supply and ventilation are regulated.
  • Emergency: Emergency numbers are posted on site.

As nobody is on site, you can reach us by phone or email if you have any questions or problems.

Is anyone on site?

No, this is a self-service sauna with no staff on site. Emergency numbers are posted on site. If you have any questions or problems, for example if the code does not work, you can reach us by phone on +41 79 658 68 71 or by email at kontakt@bodensee-sauna.ch.
